We all know change isn’t easy. About 70% of change efforts in organizations don’t succeed. Whether it’s switching to remote work or adapting to new market conditions, change is a part of our work lives. Lippitt Knoster's Model explains why some changes work and others don’t.

The Five Parts of Successful Change

The Lippitt-Knoster Model says that for change to work well, we need five things:

  1. Vision: A clear idea of where we’re going.
  2. Skills: The abilities we need to work in the new way.
  3. Incentives: Reasons for people to want the change.
  4. Resources: The tools and time we need to complete the change.
  5. Action Plan: A step-by-step guide for how to change.
