Let’s learn something new about impromptu speaking
Speaking skills are one of the most important skills we learn as they allow us to communicate with others. We can express our thoughts and feelings. These can contribute to your success. There are four ways of speech delivery such as manuscript, memorised, impromptu and extemporaneous. In this article, I will share some simple ways to speak confidently. This framework is known as CLASP framework. This is very simple to use.
In CLASP,
C stands for Calm down: Impromptu speaking can trigger fear and emotion like nothing else. So, there is a need to take a deep and slow breath. This will help you stay calm and think clearly.
L stands for Look: Don’t start immediately. Take a moment. look at the audience and smile. Keep breathing deep and slow. This will help you stay in control.
A stands for Ask: Always start with asking a question to gain some more time, while you find your thoughts on that topic. It could be as simple as, “ How many of you agree that….?”
